Fungal Nail Treatment
Traditional treatment options for toenail fungus often don’t work because topical products are unable to get through the toe’s thick nail plate. Oral medications are not always an option for patients. Other treatments require removal of the affected toenail, creating an open wound which is not often advisable.
Here at Albany Podiatry, we are excited to offer the advanced Clearanail® technology as a simple solution to a complex problem.
Smart-Sensor Technology
Clearanail's® Controlled Micro Penetration (CMP) technology is completely safe, painless, and quick. Our certified technicians at Albany Podiatry strategically perforate the nail plate without touching the skin beneath. The micro-pores that are created allow the topical solution to reach the infection without the nail acting as a barrier. The micro-pores remain in the nail until it grows out, making Clearanail® effective after just a single treatment.
What Makes Clearanail® Different?
Traditional treatment options for discolored or thickened fungal toenails often fail because they are unable to penetrate the nail plate.
FAQs
Why is toenail fungus so difficult to get rid of?
Traditional treatment options for toenail fungus often don’t work because topical products are unable to get through the toe’s thick nail plate. Oral medications are not always an option for patients. Other treatments require removal of the affected toenail, creating an open wound which is not often advisable.
How does Clearanail work?
Clearanail is an ‘intelligent’ nail drill that utilizes a patented Controlled Micro PenetrationTM technology to create micro-pathways, or microscopic holes, in toenails, leaving the entire nail intact. This enables topical anti-fungal medications to penetrate beneath the nail plate and wipe out the fungus.
Is it safe?
Yes. Clearanail is computer-controlled and is completely safe, painless, and quick. It produces micro-pathways - just 0.4 mm in diameter - in the nail without ever touching the skin beneath.
How many visits are required?
One. The micro- pathways remain in the nail until it grows out. Patients typically need only one appointment, 40 minutes or less - depending on the number of toenails affected. The doctor will reevaluate the nails in a follow-up visit to assess patient progress, discuss ways to optimize success and ensure desired results.
When is a good time to seek treatment?
Many people ignore fungal nails in the winter months because their feet are covered, however, winter may be the perfect time to treat nail fungus. Waiting until “sandal season” is problematic because even after treatment this stubborn condition requires time for a new, healthy nail to grow in.
Is Clearanail available at nail salons?
No, Clearanail is a medical procedure. Albany Podiatry is the exclusive Capital Region provider of the newest generation of Clearanail technology. Albany Podiatry has been designated a Clearanail Center of Excellence for its expertise, patient satisfaction, and early adoption of revolutionary treatment methods.
